WEST HARTFORD, CT—Join the 8th annual CT Walks for Haiti walk-a-thon and Haitian Festival on Saturday, April 1 with FOX CT News’ Joey Furey returning as MC.  This year, the walk is raising money for relief and rebuilding from Hurricane Matthew that wreaked devastation on many Haitian communities in October 2016.

Attracting hundreds of supporters, the annual walk through West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square funds projects of established 501(c)3charities.  Gather at St. Peter Claver parish center (47 Pleasant St., WH) for the 2.5 mi. walk and festival.  There will be crafts, music, children's activities and lunch.  The silent auction features gift cards from local businesses, hand-crafted items and more.  Come check out a special Red Sox package as well!

The event takes place rain or shine.  Activities begin at 10:30 a.m.; the walk starts at 12:00; festivities end at 2:30 p.m.  Walkers and non-walkers will have plenty to enjoy as the festival continues throughout the whole event.

CT Walks For Haiti, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) all-volunteer organization.  Proceeds from the event go directly as grants to the following charities that have compelling needs: Camp Hispaniola, Haitian Health Foundation, Haitian Humanitarian Network, Medical Aid to Haiti, Operation Unisson, Outreach to Haiti.  They need support to help Haitians rebuild homes and clinics, and to bring services - medical, nutritional, educational - to vulnerable populations.
